Full-Time Student Testing Analyst (Co-op/Internship)

Location: Surrey, BC, Canada

Reporting to the Head of Labs, we’re searching for students to add to our testing team. With a minimum term of 4 months and flexibility of up to 16 months, the successful applicant(s) will be responsible for a slate of consumer hardware and software testing, data validation, and preliminary analysis. Training in Labs testing processes will be provided. Students interested in a career in the wide & ever-evolving consumer technology space would excel in this role and may be considered for future employment with Linus Media Group at the close of their co-op term. The Student Testing Analyst’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the duties listed below.

Duties:

• Performing tests as per established processes, following guidelines & creating datasets for later analysis & content creation

• Collaborating with Test Engineers for assigned product categories, discussing results & avenues for further testing and analysis

• Collaborating with Writers for assigned videos, supplying information & data as required for content creation on a consistent basis

• Participating in all co-op-related activities (i.e. orientation, sessional reviews, paperwork completion etc.)

• Seeking work and opportunities to learn from Labs staff in order to make the most of your co-op term

Job Requirements:

• 3rd- or 4th-year standing in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Integrated Engineering, or a related program

• Legally allowed to work in Canada without sponsorship

• Experience in C++, Python, or R is preferable

• Experience with Microsoft Office & Google workspaces

• Strong knowledge of current and historical consumer PC hardware

• Professional communication skills & comport

• Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment

• Positive & proactive attitude

Assets:

• Eligibility for registration with EGBC

• 4th-year standing in an engineering program

• Project portfolio that demonstrates an interest in learning & personal improvement

Full-Time Student Software Developer (Co-op/Internship)

The Student Software Developer’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the duties listed below.

• Collaborating with Senior Software Developers creating automated tests and services for data collection and visualization.

• Collaborating with Test Engineers for assigned product categories, discussing results & avenues for further testing and analysis

• Collaborating with Writers for assigned videos, supplying information & data as required for content creation on a consistent basis

• Participating in all co-op-related activities (i.e. orientation, sessional reviews, paperwork completion etc.)

• Seeking work and opportunities to learn from Labs staff in order to make the most of your co-op term

Job Requirements:

• Legally allowed to work in Canada without sponsorship

• Experience in at least one of the following programming languages: C++, Python, Golang

Full-Time Writer/Video Producer

Location: Surrey, BC, Canada

Reporting to the Head of Writing, the successful applicant will work with and test technology products, write video scripts describing their findings, and act as a producer for videos on our YouTube Channels (primarily Linus Tech Tips but also TechLinked, ShortCircuit, TechQuickie, and more). The Writer/Video Producer's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Duties:

• ~60% - Getting hands-on with products and forming an original, informed opinion. This may include:

  • Testing/Benchmarking PC hardware

  • Researching products by attending press briefings, conducting calls with brands, and good ol’ fashioned Google

• ~20% - Writing video scripts for hosts to read.

• ~5% - writing instructions for the camera/editing for the visuals that accompany your script (on-the-job training provided)

• ~5% - Preparing for and conducting unscripted video shoots by readying the materials (PC or otherwise) ahead of the shoot and providing assistance to the host during the shoot

• ~5% - Generating video concepts

• ~5% - Reviewing videos alongside the video editor (on-the-job training provided).

Full-Time Affiliate Lead

Location: Surrey, BC, Canada

Reporting to the Business Partnerships Manager, we’re looking for an Affiliate Lead to help maintain our affiliate marketing initiatives across our website, video channels and social media. The Affiliate Lead's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Duties:

• Managing relationships with companies regarding our affiliate marketing needs, including outreach, negotiations and regular follow-up.

• Maintaining affiliate links for products featured across our websites, video channels and social media pages.

• Analyzing traffic and trends to maximize affiliate revenue and capitalize on opportunities quickly

• Researching new affiliate opportunities and ongoing sales and deals at major product retailers

Job Requirements:

• Experience in a similar role (sales, account management, affiliate marketing, etc.) is preferred but not necessary

Full-Time Production Assistant

Location: Surrey, BC, Canada

Reporting to the Head of Writing, this person will assist the writing and camera teams to help coordinate and optimize shoots for videos across all channels, reducing downtime. The Production Assistant's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Duties:

• Making sure all members of the Production Team have everything they need to perform their jobs

• Helping prepare the set with lights, props, equipment etc.

• Assisting the Production Team with various A/V setups as required

• Managing digital graphics and metadata for the production team

• Archiving and syncing datasets and files for optimal performance

• Ensuring internal department workflow and tracking documents are up to date

• Carrying out necessary administrative duties as required

Job Requirements:

• At least 2 years of Production Assistant experience

• Prior experience with sound production is an asset
